Charles “Chuck” Humphrey - RKKODY

From the time of the Heaven’s Gate suicides, which took place between March 22nd and 26th, 1997, until his own death on Febuary 17, 1998, Chuck Humphrey tried to dispel rumors about the group and advocate for their decision.

In May of 1997 Chuck tried to take his life with another former member, Wayne Cooke. Wayne was successful, while Chuck was found by police before his death.

After this attempt, he created a website to bring awareness to the belief system of Heaven’s Gate. He also sold items to promote the group. The items he had for sale on his site were T-Shirts, sweaters, limited framed prints of a next level member, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, mouse pads, mugs, and CD’s.

On February 17, 1998, Chuck was found dead in a tent in the Arizona desert. He was wearing an Away Team patch, a $5 bill and five quarters, and had a purple shroud next to his body.
